Выпущена новая версия открытого кросс-платформенного клиента Azureus. Программа давно уже завоевала огромную популярность как отличное и стабильное средство для работы с пиринговой сетью BitTorrent. Написана с использованием языка Java, что упрощает задачу по его запуску под различными операционными системами, не только Windows, но и Linux, MacOS X и их аналогов. Подойдет как новичкам, так и профессионалам. Интерфейс программы довольно прост и понятен (имеются три режима для различных уровней подготовки), несмотря на большое количество функций и всевозможных настроек.

Azureus is a Java based BitTorrent client that offers multiple torrent downloads, queuing/priority systems (on torrents and files), start/stop seeding options and instant access to numerous pieces of information about your torrents. It also features an embedded tracker that is easily set up and ready to use.

Azureus connects to the BitTorrent network. BitTorrent is a peer-to-peer protocol designed to transfer files. Users connect directly to send and receive portions of a file, while a central tracker coordinates the action of all peers and manages connections without knowledge of the contents of the files being distributed. With BitTorrent, users upload at the same time they download, so network bandwidth is managed as efficiently as possible. BitTorrent is designed to work better than other file-transfer protocols as the number of people interested in a certain file increases. Azureus support for 27 languages.

В последнее время разработчики сделали основной упор на расширение возможностей программы, а на интеграцию с web-сервисами. В данном случае речь идет от Vuze – собственном проекте от разработчиков Azureus. Это online-треккер для скачивания видео высокого разрешения. Среди ассортимента пользователям предлагаются как трейлеры и короткометражные ролики, так и некоторые фильмы.

Программа также поддерживает сторонние модули, которые значительно расширяют ее функциональность. Авторы настоятельно рекомендуют использовать последнюю версию Sun Java Runtime Environment 6.0, или как минимум последнее, десятое по счету, обновление предыдущей 5.0 во избежание проблем с работой программы.

В новую версию добавлена опция для настройки максимальной скорости сети, а также исправлены проблемы с 100% загрузкой центрального процессора
